Ebensee Concentration Camp: The Collection of William Lowry

William "Bill" Lowry was born in Canada, and before World War II broke out he was studying nursing at what is now known as Columbia Adventist University in Washington DC. Before graduating he joined the U.S. Army in the medical corps, where he was attached to the 30^th field hospital. Lowry took the following photos in May 1945, during the liberation of the Ebensee concentration camp in Austria. Following the war, he returned to the United States and enjoyed a successful career as a salesman of medical equipment and supplies. These photographs were given to the Jewish Virtual Library and are used with permission from William Lowry's son, H. Maynard Lowry.
